Korean Air to Launch Tehran-Seoul

South Korea’s flag carrier, Korean Air, has confirmed it will continue with its Iran expansion plans despite their cutbacks to flights in other countries around the Persian Gulf. Rumours from the Korean capital previously suggested that the airline may scrap plans to fly to Iran after years away from the market.

Our Take

Iran’s market holds huge potential for South Korean companies and despite a dip in the East Asian airline’s profits in recent month it continues to see Iran as a decent long-term growth market for sales. Currently no Korean airlines flies direct to the Iranian capital and it would make decent returns even on a twice-weekly route.
