The 2016 Golden Eagle Express is headed from Moscow to Tehran, with tickets costing in excess of $20,000 for this year’s five-star railway trip.
The latest trip for the Golden Eagle Express train departed from Moscow and will make its way through Russia, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, before entering Iran’s territory. When the train enters the Islamic Republic it will stop in several cities including Yazd, Shiraz and Mashhad.
This year’s railway journey from the luxury tour company is building on its previous top-end journey from Budapest in 2015. Although the number of tourists visiting via this method remain small, the Orient Express-like trip is bringing in the highest value foreign tourists.
